The Ace Guide To NYU London
Location: NYU London is located on Bedford Square in Central London. It is the ideal location for a study-away campus and it is right next to the British Museum and some University of London colleges. Facilities: The Academic Building is giant house that can be a bit confusing to navigate since all the staircases won’t take you to the rooms on the floor that you’re looking for. However, the building is beautiful. Byron and Guilford, the NYU residences, are excellent and close to campus and they provide a variety of room options, all of which have ample space and receive maid service once a week. Student Involvement: It was very easy to get involved in student clubs through the University of London Union (now Student Central) since it was only a few blocks away from campus. The team of RAs also regularly plan outings to iconic locations that are definitely worth checking out! Daily Life: Camden Market is a great location for inexpensive food and to buy souvenirs for your friends and family back home. It’s where you can find all types of food for around £5 a piece. There’s also no need to worry about clothes shopping before you get here, the super retail store Primark sells everything you need for great prices! Class Scheduling: There are never Friday classes and there isn’t a language requirement. This frees up your time allowing you to travel during the Fall and Spring breaks, Jesus was able to visit 14 different countries during his one year in London. Traveling: Upon arriving, you’ll find an Oyster Card in your Welcome Packet which is a transport card that allows you to take the Tube and buses to virtually anywhere in London. However, while London is in Europe, you will not be in continental Europe. Still, with the right visa, there are trains and planes that can conveniently get you anywhere you want. A weekend in Paris or Barcelona is very popular excursion and much recommended. Traveling through Italy is also incredibly easy through Italotreno which offers wifi onboard and incredibly cheap tickets between Italian cities. Bonus Travel Tip: Traveling through Europe can become a problem if you don’t do it correctly. Always check the dates and times of your flights to ensure that you don’t miss any. Allow yourself sufficient time to get to the airport because certain airports may be far away from the downtown area of the cities you may want to visit. Also, never book your tickets through third-party websites like Etravel or Skyscanner. You should look for the cheapest tickets through these sites, but book the flight directly through the airline’s website. I’ve had bad experiences where a friend booked a ticket through a third-party website and when we got to the airport, the airline didn’t have his ticket because the agency never actually made a reservation.
