October Speaker Bio: As an NYU Stern School of Business alum, Mr. Wayne Lee, has a wealth of experience to share with students about the resources and approaches he utilized to land his career in finance. He will cover topics such as qualifications and personality traits that are helpful for a financial career, basics to becoming a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), and comparing professional life to entrepreneurship path. Currently, Mr. Lee is a Partner and Regulatory Strategist at Yinji Financial in Shanghai. His past professional experience include directing strategy and business development at BOC International, Macquarie Capital, Credit Suisse, Citigroup and CIBC. Many people think that actuaries just sit at desks quietly working on complicated math calculations with large piles of data. The real work of actuaries is much more geared towards understanding and analyzing business problems, and towards developing effective business solutions. And our work is in the midst of an exciting evolution that will involve actuaries in a wider range of business problems, create opportunities in different environments, require a more diverse set of technical skills and business skills, rely on increased collaboration with other professionals, and necessitate effective communication with varied audiences.
