Math Society Lecture Series II with Professor Moshe Kim 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM CST Room 209 As is written in the bulletin, all the economic undergraduates of NYUSH must take Mathematics for Economics, which includes multivariable calculus and differential equations. Is it necessary for an economics student to possess advanced math skills? Professor Moshe Kim, as a professional economist, will give his opinion. Professor Kim’s research interests are banking, financial markets, and industrial organization. He has published articles in a lot of academic magazines, such as the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Monetary Economics, the Journal of Law and Economics, etc. Professor Moshe Kim teaches Microeconomics, which is a required course for all students who want to major in Business and Finance and Marketing and Economics. This is also a good chance for the freshmen to get to know this professor. Please RSVP via our Orgsync page so that we could prepare enough food! Seats and food are reserved for those who RSVP! “Your Day is my Night” Screening and discussion with filmmaker Lynne Sachs 5:15 PM - 6:45 PM CST Room 101 “YOUR DAY IS MY NIGHT” 你的白天是我的黑夜 (64min. 2013), in Mandarin, Spanish & English with English subtitles), is a hybrid documentary by Lynne Sachs. She teaches experimental film and video at New York University and The New School. A Relational Model to Understand Art Practices in Hong Kong 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM CST Room 310 The speed of exchanges today has transformed the way art is made and the ongoing “globalization” shaping the art scenes, has made the questions of influences and period styles problematic to address in art historical writing and teaching. How are these trends visible in Hong Kong? These questions are addressed through illuminating case studies by Professor Vigneron, whose research focus is on the history of Chinese painting from the 18th century onwards and on different aspects of contemporary Chinese art seen in a global context. Professor Vigneron is also a practicing artist. He has held several solo exhibitions in Hong Kong and has taken part in local and international exhibitions.
