By 6:30 am on Inauguration Day, a thin layer of ice covered the ground, with snow still on the lawn of the National Mall. Many vendors with Trump-themed merchandise were already setting up shop in popular places around D.C.

By around 7 am, the Capital Mall was empty. This is drastically different than how it would appear if the inauguration were still happening outside. Besides vendors, many security vehicles, and personnel, virtually no one was in this usually crowded area.

Host of ‘Fox News Saturday Night’, Jimmy Failla, reported on the large crowds.

Large crowds wait in line for entry into the Capital One Arena, where a livestream of the inauguration, and an appearance by Donald Trump will take place.

Biden merchandise was on clearance in the Washington Dulles airport the day after the inauguration.
Though thousands, including the ones pictured, were denied entry to the arena after waiting in line for seven hours, the energy was pulsing through the city. Though the crowds were physically distant from the event many of them had traveled to Washington, D.C. for, it was easy to sense the hope, the determination, and the palpable energy of a crowd physically distant, but emotionally invested in the historical event they had come to witness.
