CH2: Comfort Food Revamped

Do finals have you craving comfort food? If you're in desperate need of some classic Mac n Cheese, head over to CH2.

CH2 by Whisk is a diamond in the rough hidden away on Huaihai Lu near Yongkang Lu. It is a perfect place to begin a night out with their hearty and well-priced Italian- and French-influenced menu and heavenly chocolate desserts. The interior is reminiscent of a European bistro and provides a cozy place to grab dinner or a dessert. Also like all good comfort food restaurants in Shanghai, they have buy one get one free burgers on Tuesdays and an even better deal on Wednesdays and Thursdays: 50% off main courses. The restaurants truly gets back to the basics and serves up amazing comfort food at a comfortable price - it is really hard to beat. Some recommendations:Cheeseburger with steamed cheese (108 RMB)A huge and hearty burger that is incredibly delicious and will leave you questioning why you keep having burgers at Blue Frog. Chicken Cordon Bleu (70 RMB)You can’t go wrong with fried chicken wrapped around melting cheese. Ch2’s makes it with nothing but the essentials but that is exactly what you want from comfort food, nothing fancy just the basics. All of the menu items seem to echo this simplicity and large portions for an amazing price. Mac and Cheese (60 RMB)Creamy and cheesy just the way it should be at an affordable price. It is perfect for the coming Shanghai winter and is a big enough portion to satisfy.Chocolate Cakes (RMB 50 and up)You can’t go wrong with any one of the cakes but be ready to for a chocolate overload as each dessert is loaded with enough chocolate to satisfy even the biggest chocolate lovers. All will be satisfied and full after just two bites. If you are looking for something a little less chocolate-y, the chocolate upside-down cake is a great option because you can offset the chocolate ganache-covered cake with some delicious vanilla ice cream. CH2 is truly one of the best value restaurants I have eaten at in Shanghai. It is really good food at reasonable prices and its proximity to Yong Kang Lu is a plus.
