Kick off your Halloween weekend by checking out the Carnival of the Dead event in B1 hosted by NYU Shanghai Student Government’s Events Committee. Always a great starting point before heading out into the city, you can munch on some candied apples as you check out this year’s fun events like the annual costume competition and haunted house as well as horror movie screenings, carnival games, the Ghost Story pit and Horror Corner. If you haven’t been to the Market yet, you need to go. (We did a piece on it a while back.) They’re throwing a Halloween party for charity, with proceeds going to the Shanghai Young Bakers. There will be live performances, good food, vendors selling some cool stuff and a sneak peak of Dream Weaver Productions' live stage adaptation of Reservoir Dogs for any Tarantino fans out there. 7 pm- late Freak Out Halloween Warehouse Festival 2016

If you’re looking to switch up your routine, SHFT is throwing a warehouse Halloween party with big names like Keith Ape and Araabmuzik as the headliners. Admission is kind of steep with general tickets priced at 280 rmb but the event looks worth it. Address: 徐汇区石龙路569号, 近柳州路

9 pm to late The Mansion Horror Rave

I think I’m the most excited about this one. One ticket (250 rmb) gets you 3 drinks and a ride on a free shuttle service between TWO different venues. Location 1: The Mansion Graveyard. 9 pm to late Shanghai LBGTQ Pub Crawl

I didn’t know this, but apparently ShanghaiLGBT has been doing an annual pub crawl every Halloween, heading to many LGBTQ friendly venues around the Shanghai.
