Prince Dies at the Age of 57 - On Thursday, Apr. 21, 2016, musician Prince was found dead in his home in Minnesota. The investigation following the event found out that the Friday before his death Prince was treated for drug overdose. The pop superstar allegedly also had to bring his tour to an abrupt end due to the poor health.

Some Apple Services Shut Down in Mainland China - Apple, unlike other less successful Silicon Valley companies, takes up a large share of the Chinese technology market. That said, only months after Apple launched iBooks and iMovies stores on the Chinese market, the government demanded that they shut down. Apple hopes to reopen these sources to its Chinese users.

Uber Drivers’ Status - For some time now Uber has been in the spotlight over the class-action lawsuit concerning the status of Uber drivers. While Uber fought for drivers as independent contractors, labor unions and lawyers strived to classify them as full-time employees. On Thursday, in California and Massachusetts the on-demand taxi company reached an agreement to keep the freelancer status of its drivers.

Show of the North Korean Power - On Saturday, Apr. 23, South Korean authorities claim that the North Korean government was parading its power by firing ballistic missiles off of its east coast. South Korea fears that the upcoming country leadership meeting in May will prompt the North Korean defence to turn to nuclear testing.

Shanghai Fashion Week - Shanghai fashion week this April was bigger than ever. The event did not only feature the established brands, but also more recent, innovative designers. Among the Chinese labels, Ban Xiao Xue, the winner of the China Woolmark Prize in 2012, was in the spotlight for its white and black collection.

Discovery of a Coral Reef System - The marine scientific community is ecstatic because of the latest discovery of a coral reef system in the deep waters of Amazon. It is 9,300 square kilometers long and takes up the area in the muddy waters between French Guiana to Maranhao State in Brazil. The scientific community is very surprised as this stretch was thought of as unsuitable for growing corals.
