China’s Stock Market Crash - Ever since the end of August this year, the Chinese stock market has been gradually recovering from the crash. However, this past Friday, November 27, it has experienced yet another plunge. When the Shanghai Composite Index closed, it was down more than 5%. The drop occurred right after it was announced that three of the country’s largest securities firms are under investigation.

“Enough is Enough” - In Colorado, yet another shooting occurred, resulting in 3 dead and 9 wounded. This past Friday, November 27, the gunman opened fire at the Planned Parenthood Clinic. In President Obama’s public response, he noted that such outbreaks are “not normal” and that “enough is enough.” The shooting also affected the presidential race conversations with the Republicans avoiding the topic and the Democratic candidates voicing solidarity with the targeted Planned Parenthood Clinic.

Strict Border Control in France - Since the Nov. 13 Paris attacks that resulted in a death toll of 130, France insisted on stricter border control. In its attempt, it has denied entry to nearly 1000 people. Around 15,000 police officers have been placed on border control duty.

Black Friday Aftermath - With the holiday weekend behind us, it is time to look at aftermath of Black Friday in the United States. Compared to the last year, sales dropped slightly. With more and more deals going up online, most of the holiday shopping did not require a visit to a store. Even despite the decline in overall purchases, online sales doubled this year.

Turkey-Russia Conflict - This past Tuesday, November 24, Turkey shot down Russian warplane on the border with Syria. In response to the event, Moscow redirected its criticism from the Islamic State to Turkey. President Vladimir Putin announced a set of economic sanctions. The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan refused to apologize maintaining that the Russian aircraft entered Turkish airspace.

Roman Polanski Will Not be Extradited From Poland - Polanski, a film director, who pleaded guilty to statutory rape in 1977 will not be extradited from Poland. The prosecutor who requested extradition will not be appealing against the district court decision. Polanski is now free to proceed with life and work in Poland.

The Humorous Exchange between Canada’s Prime Minister and The Queen - Both the Canada’s Prime Minister Trudeau, and the Queen attended the 53 Commonwealth Nation Summit in Malta. In his toast to the Queen, Trudeau commended the Queen and observed that since her coronation in 1953 numerous Prime Ministers have held the office in Canada, while she has remained in place. In her witty response the Queen said: “Thank you Mr. Prime Minister of Canada, for making me feel so old.”
