CDC Presents the Career Expo
If you don’t remember from last year, there was only one internship fair scheduled. However, due to student feedback the Career Development Center internship fair program is set up a bit differently this year. This year we debuted Career Bootcamp, a month-long exhibition of presentations and seminars. Students learned resume writing skills, interview skills, and even email writing skills. Now it is time to use those skills to go out into the professional world and get an internship or other career opportunity in Shanghai! After the tremendous success of the Career Bootcamp, the Career Development Center now presents the Career Expo: a two-week event during which employers come to NYU Shanghai to meet with students. In the company information sessions, students can network with employers, learn more information about their companies, and receive potential internship opportunities duringone-hour information sessions. Last Friday was the first of two fairs that the Career Center has been promoting this month. During the Internship Fair, students had the unique opportunity to network and talk directly with employers. The fair was a genuine success for both students and employers. Tatiana Tabasco, a sophomore, commented that, “The internship fair was really fun. It was interesting seeing how everyone was so eager to meet and learn about different opportunities.” Other students like Adriano Albarosa, another sophomore, even had the chance to meet with his favorite food company, Vapiano. Albarosa commented that Vapiano, “is emerging fast in China, and I would love to intern with them.” If you missed last weeks fair, don’t fret! There will be another opportunity for networking coming this Friday. It will be held on the second floor cafe where there will be a meet and greet with employers and companies. Even if you are not planning on getting an internship this semester you should still come to network. Come by with your resume and check it out. You just might connect well with an employer, and find yourself with an internship or, even better, a mentor in your field of interest. If you have questions about your resume, or you just need help with starting to write one, come by the CDC walk-in hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 12:00-1:30 PM in room 608.
