London Food Guide

Delhi Grill - Lunch Special £6

While London has no shortage of Indian food, finding a place that is both cheap and tasty can be a bit difficult. Delhi Grill, a kitschy Bollywood canteen, certainly fulfills both requirements. Their lunch special gives you a choice of one vegetarian dish, one meat dish, naan or pilau rice (although if you don’t get the naan, you’re missing out), with sides of chutney and salad. The rogan gosht (lamb) and chicken makhani (butter chicken) are excellent choices for meat, as both are bursting with flavor and fragrance. And of course, don’t forget to scrape the leftover sauces onto the freshly made naan. 21 Chapel Market London N1 9EZ

Deeney’s - Macbeth Haggis £6.50

Before you take a second to look up what haggis is, you need to try this sandwich. Behold, the Macbeth Haggis. It’s two beautifully toasted slices of bread sandwiched between perfection: haggis, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, and rocket. It’s an intense combination of flavors, and is unlike any gourmet grilled cheese that already exists.(And, if you’re still curious, haggis is sheep’s heart, liver, and lungs. Yum.)Locations vary by day.

Wright Brothers - £9 for 3

Right across from the famous Borough Market sits Wright Brothers, a joint specializing in oysters. While their extensive selection may seem daunting, you can’t go wrong if you head straight for the Japanese Oysters. They’re served with miso, ginger, and wasabi. You’ll be happily slurping every last drop. 11 Stoney Street Borough MarketLondon SE1 9AD

African Volcano - Pulled Pork Burger £6

Hands down the best pulled pork in London. Each bite is jam-packed with juicy flavor (and calories, but we won’t think about that). It’s topped with a thick peri peri bun which is perfect for soaking up the extra juice, because let’s be real, you’ll be licking the plate clean.
