  1. Basics of the Quarantine Experience, Returning to NYUSH

    Students all over the world have been immensely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in various ways, whether it be continuing to study solely online or by navigating complex regulations in returning to campus. For NYU Shanghai students in particular, the situation has proven itself to become a very complex one. The Chinese government's approval for our students to return in October has allowed for some fortunate students to travel back to China. However, the process to return to campus is not as easy as it used to be. Instead of simply walking out the airport doors to return to Shanghai life, one must complete an intense 14-day quarantine and 7-day self-monitoring period. These quarantine regulations seem pretty simple on paper, but take on a much more entirely complicated and difficult process in reality.

  2. New Student-led Organization, Women at Work Club

    Every semester, NYU Shanghai continues to expand its ever growing list of student lead clubs and organizations. One of the most recent NYUSH clubs that has been created is called Women at Work (also known as WaW). Not only is this club an incredible platform to engage in important dialogue on social justice surrounding female gender issues, but it also provides sources of networking, career or volunteer opportunities, and social action. Having an open platform for learning more about serious female gender issues and participating in strong community building offers students an incredible unique experience on such a relevant topic analyzed in gender equality empowerment.

  3. COVID-19's Effect on Global Mental Health

    Not only are individuals all over the world struggling to stay physically healthy with COVID-19 still on the surge, but individuals are also facing feelings of anxiety, hopelessness, and depression as a response to the pandemic. The effects of COVID-19 on mental health has increasingly become a larger problem as the year comes closer to an end, with no clear idea for many nations of when life can return to normalcy.

    Since the beginning of 2020, COVID-19 has left the world shattered in pieces, having over 20 million confirmed coronavirus cases and leaving over about 730k deaths worldwide. Currently, the US, Brazil, and India lead in the number of COVID-19 cases. While some countries are still drowning in cases and pandemic precautions, other countries have entirely lifted restrictions.     International students pursuing degrees in the US will be forced to leave or face deportation if they do not attend at least one in-person class, according to an announcement made by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Monday, July 6th.
