  1. Over 1000 NYU Students and Faculty Sign Petition in Protest of the Layoffs of Five Liberal Studies Professors at NYU Paris

Over 1000 NYU students, professors, and university faculty have signed a petition to NYU President Andrew Hamilton to resist the planned layoffs of five NYU Paris professors. The layoff procedures came as a result of the recent closure of the Liberal Studies Program at NYU Paris. OCA talked to one of the affected professors and a former student at NYU Paris to get the full story.

  2. NYUSH Cracks Down on Student Conduct Policy in Light of Qingdao Outbreak

Following the COVID-19 outbreak in Qingdao earlier two weeks ago, Dean Pe and NYUSH's administration doubled down on the rigidity of their COVID-19 safety policy after 15% of random travel checks for the Code of Conduct came back as "problematic."

  3. How much are you willing to pay to get to Shanghai this semester?

Getting to Shanghai is by no means an easy feat, especially during a pandemic. Most students seem to be talking about how they might make it to China in the next few months, but not what will happen once they get there. Per emails sent by Vice Chancellor Lehman, a two-week quarantine is mandatory after getting off the plane before many international students can freely access the campus. However, the price of this experience might deter some from deciding to continue with the "transition" option for this semester.

  4. COVID-19 and the Class of 2024: Starting College During a Pandemic

OCA [virtually] sits down with four incoming first-year students (Fiona Lemon, Ali Debow, Timothy Fraher, and João Vitor) to discuss themselves, their decisions to attend NYU Shanghai, and how the global pandemic affected their decisions.
